Vorwort
„Landaviana“ nenne ich diese Impression über die südpfälzische Universitätsstadt
Landau, die durch mediterranes Fläir und Gastfreundlichkeit zum Verweilen einlädt.
Namensgeberin für Stadt und Werk ist die dralle Landavia, welche als
zeitgenössische Skulptur nackt mit Früchten in aufreizender Pose ihre Lebenslust
verbreitet. So mischen sich in der Musik historische, holprige Gassen und schmucke
Häuserwinkel mit barbusiger Weiblichkeit. Die Komposition entstand als Auftragswerk
der Stadtkapelle Landau und ist dem Orchester mit seinem Dirigenten Bernd Gaudera
sowie der Stadt Landau gewidmet.

Preface
„Landaviana“ is the title that I choose for these impressions of the university city of
Landau located in the southern Palatinate region. This city invites its visitors to stay
by its Mediterranean atmosphere and hospitality. The name of both the work and the
city is derived from ample Landavia, whose nude contemporary sculpture offers fruit in
a provoking pose, and spreads a zest for life. Consequently the music blends scenes
of historic, bumpy streets and alleys as well as neat corners in the city with topless
femininity. The work was commissioned by the Landau City Band and is dedicated to
the band, its conductor Bernd Gaudera as well as to the city of Landau.
